May Match: Let Your Giving Spark Change

Every Donation Doubles in May During The Foundry Ministries May Match Challenge

“I invite everyone to help and act quickly. All giving made before May 31st will be doubled through the Challenge and make a huge difference to help even more people in need.”

– Chief Executive Officer, Micah Andrews

BESSEMER, Ala.— Throughout the month of May, donations to The Foundry Ministries will be doubled to help even more hurting people in the Birmingham area. Generous partners have contributed $60,000 and are challenging the community to match this amount with an additional $60,000 by May 31.

“The Matching Challenge has the potential to bring in $120,000 to help our neighbors struggling with addicition or homelessness.” said Chief Executive Officer, Micah Andrews. “For example, a gift of $50 becomes $100 thanks to the Match. That means gifts shared by May 31 will have double the impact to help those who need it most in the Birmingham area.”

The timing of this Matching Challenge opportunity is critical, Andrews explained. “During the early summer, donations often slow down. But hundreds of struggling people still come to The Foundry Ministries seeking assistance. Meeting the goal of the Matching Challenge will help our ministry bridge the gap and ensure we’re prepared to care for all those who need food, shelter, and life-changing services this season.”

Last summer, The Foundry Ministries provided 34,645 nights of shelter and 116,127 meals for those in need in the Birmingham area. Just as many, if not more, meals and safe beds will be needed this year to care for local people who are hungry and homeless. In addition to these critical services, The Foundry also offers classes, faith-based counseling, work training, and long-term recovery programs.

“I’m in awe of how compassionate friends in our community band together to care for others through opportunities like the Matching Challenge,” said Andrews. “We can work together to ignite our giving for double the impact.”

Gifts can be made online at or sent to 1804 6th Ave. N Bessemer, AL 35020. All gifts must be received online or postmarked by May 31 to qualify for the Matching Challenge. For more information on The Foundry Ministries’ services, please visit or call (205) 425-7737.
