Each year, The Foundry Ministries hosts a breakfast fundraiser to benefit our partner, Changed Lives Christian Center (CLCC), as well as The Foundry.  All funds raised go directly to support The Foundry Ministries and CLCC’s collaboration to provide long-term residential and transitional programs for the homeless, the addict, and the ex-inmate reentering society. The proceeds are also used to provide food, medical care,  dental care, clothing, and other basic necessities for impoverished homeless individuals and families. This year’s fundraising goal was met at $300,000 thanks to the generosity of our donors and the inspirational message of our speaker Bo Jackson.

The 400+ guests who gathered at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex this year enjoyed hearing from Bessemer native, Bo Jackson, who presented the keynote address and sports reporter for ESPN, SEC Network, and al.com, Lauren Sisler, who joined us as our event emcee.

Sisler shared her story of how addiction has affected her life. She is a champion for spreading awareness on the devastating consequences of addition.  We are very thankful to have such a talented advocate to speak about serving the hurting and lost in our community!

The Keynote Address delivered by Bo Jackson echoed true to the community we serve when he stated, “Being successful to me is about being brave enough to ask for help.” Bo Jackson is the only athlete in history to be named an All-Star in both professional baseball and football.

“It was a treat to have Bo Jackson, an icon in the history of American sports and hometown hero, return to our community to make an impact on the homeless and addicted in our area,” said Micah Andrews, CEO of CLCC and The Foundry Ministries. “His life’s story highlighted how each of us have the opportunity to transform the lives of our struggling neighbors, calling on us all to work together to strengthen the fabric of our community.”

“Put a little sunshine in someone’s rain cloud today!”

All-star athlete Bo Jackson reminded the crowd about Maya Angelou’s famous words to spread joy to others around you.  His address at the 2019 Leadership Breakfast inspired us to live for a purpose, ask for help, and recognize the people around us!

Thank you for helping make this year’s Leadership Breakfast a success!  If you would like more information about how you can be a part of creating lasting transformation for the men and women in our programs, please visit: foundryministries.com/get-involved/ways-to-give/.
