Counseling:

The pastoral counseling department lies at the heart of The Foundry’s discipleship model. Program participants are assigned to one of our counselors upon entry into our program and will remain with that counselor during their residential stay. This approach helps build the rapport and trust necessary for effective counseling.

Participants meet with their counselor once a week for one-on-one sessions and more frequently as needed. Decades of experience have led us to a curriculum-guided approach to counseling.

Participants are asked to complete introspective assignments before some of their counseling sessions and then discuss their conclusions with their counselor. Processing thoughts in this way creates buy-in and provides opportunities for the Holy Spirit to come alongside and lead our participants to the meaningful truth they are seeking.

For those who have received good counsel, either from a wise parent, close friend, pastor, or professional, we know that life is easier when you know you have someone in your corner. Someone with a different perspective. Someone with a richer or more extensive experience. A safe, judgment-free space. A place to be transparent and vulnerable. Counseling is one of the safe places we create for participants at the Foundry.
