My God is Light
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5 NIV
My God, how I love you! From the beginning of this world, you brought light to a dark and formless creation. Light illuminates all things. It brings focus and clarity to what we struggle to see. With light, we are able to determine the authenticity of our surroundings.
The same is true with you, God. You illuminate all things and bring focus and clarity to what we struggle to see. Because of You, your children are able to determine the authenticity of our surroundings. Being a child of God means we can bask in your light. We no longer have to stay trapped within the darkness of the world that surrounds us, but instead, we are able to live freely in your presence.
Shed light on my heart and expose the darkness. What is hidden in the darkness cannot be healed. Your light brings healing to my soul and comforts me. It shows the beauty of your power. I will not stumble in the darkness, but walk confidently in your truth.
Just as John declared the truth of who You are to the people of his time, may I do the same to those around me. Father, give me eyes to see those who haven’t yet experienced your freedom; give me the courage to share your praise and declare your truth.
