I have been volunteering at The Foundry for about three years. During this time, I have primarily led small groups and participated in serve opportunities through my church.
Being able to share God with these ladies is a joy and honor. They must be reminded that God loves them no matter what they have done and always will. Their recovery is a testimony in itself, and others need to see their victories. By leading small groups and serving at The Foundry, I can support these ladies during a rough time in their lives and get to witness their journey to freedom.
One of the young ladies, who has now graduated from the program, co-led with me last Spring in the same small group she had been a part of back in the Spring of 2021. When we met, she was broken and needed God’s love. Seeing her journey full circle was amazing and something I will never forget. Her strength and commitment is something to be admired.
We were created to serve others, to be God’s hands and feet. We should all recognize and be proud of having the privilege to volunteer and serve those in need. When volunteering, we can minister to and help people, no matter where they come from. We can develop and sometimes even discover our God-given spiritual gifts when serving others. I am grateful for all God has given me and am thankful for the opportunity to give back.
