Brandon D. Lackey, Chief Program Officer 

  • Brandon D. Lackey has spent more than 25 years serving individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders, homelessness, trauma, and other life-controlling challenges. As Chief Program Officer of The Foundry, he is committed to creating safe, healthy, and encouraging environments where people can heal, grow, and experience permanently transformed lives.
  • Brandon has held leadership roles with the Alabama Rescue Services Association, Living Free Ministries, and the Association of Christian Recovery Ministries. As a founding board member of ACRM, he helped work with the Alabama Legislature to revise Alabama’s mental health laws, strengthening protections for religious and recovery choices. He also helped develop standards for certification-exempt recovery organizations that emphasize best practices, transparency, and accountability.
  • From 2017 to 2023, Brandon served on Governor Ivey’s Opioid Abuse and Overdose Commission and the Alabama Department of Mental Health Recovery Housing Committee.
  • He holds a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of West Alabama. He manages a private counseling practice and is an ordained minister.
  • The Lackey family, Brandon, Deidre, James, and John Brooks, are active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
