Kenan: Fifty Stories for Fifty Years
I was 27 years old when I entered The Foundry, having battled opiates for over eight years. After my last arrest, my parents refused to bail me out until I had somewhere to go for help. That “help” was The Foundry Farm in Cullman.
I had been raised Methodist throughout my life but never really understood what God’s grace truly was. The Foundry showed me. I met friends there that I still have to this day. I am approaching nine years of sobriety, and I can honestly say that it is thanks to those friends and the opportunities The Foundry gave me.
Of course, the program gives you the material to help you succeed but even more so is the brotherhood, friendship, and accountability it provides to help you stay sober. I gave my heart and life to Christ on the basketball court at The Farm. My life has been blessed beyond belief ever since.
I can not thank the men and women of the Foundry enough. Eddie Wilson, David Hall, and Mike Emanuel were like fathers/brothers to me. For them, my family, and the big guy above that, I will continue my walk with Christ every day and remain addiction-free.
