Reaching the Community

At The Foundry, we believe the world is changed one reshaped life at a time. We carry that belief throughout the variety of services we provide to our recovery program participants, but we also carry this belief through our efforts in reaching the community we serve within.

The Foundry’s Rescue Program serves 400-600 neighbors each week who struggle to provide basic resources for themselves and their families. Our Rescue Program is motivated by Matthew 25:40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you do for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” The heart of The Foundry has always been to serve those in our local community who, for one reason or another, lack the necessary means to thrive. Hundreds of individuals receive fresh produce, hot meals, and basic pantry staples on a weekly basis.

Our food resources aren’t simply offered to ensure someone is fed, but they are also meant to be a tangible way to show others the love of Christ. Through our resources, we are able to develop relationships with our neighbors; many of them deal with addiction, depression, loneliness, and a host of other troubles that come along with poverty. We strive to bring the hope and light of Christ to every neighbor we encounter.

This summer, our Rescue staff has had the opportunity to pour into the lives of children who visit the Rescue Center on a regular basis. These visitors initially began coming to the center to seek refuge from the summer heat and receive food they aren’t provided with at home. Over time, friendships have developed between the children and those who serve at our Rescue Center.

AJ and Sontay, two of the children visiting this summer, told us “We received joy. You guys are always so genuinely happy to see us. And that feels good. Every time we come up here, we feel like you guys are our spiritual friends and y’all help all the time. And you encourage us not to fall into the same things that we’ve seen.”
