Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

DEVOTION

Do you remember the moment the truth of this scripture finally came to life for you? You know, that light bulb moment where these words you believed as truth for so long finally turned into the words of truth you began to live by. At that moment, it was as if a whole new world came to life inside of you. You began to see yourself differently. And this allowed you to then see and treat others differently.

Those journeying through recovery often have a hard time understanding how such grace can be so freely poured out on them. To know you can become an entirely new person after all of the bad decisions you’ve made, all the hurt you’ve caused and all of the bridges you’ve burned, is often too much to process. But, as Believers in Jesus Christ, we know the freedom that comes when you accept this truth and live it out.

PRAYER

Father, thank you that it no longer matters how bad my past looks, but, instead, it only matters what greatness my future holds. Lord, bring that light bulb moment to every man and woman seeking you at The Foundry this month. Let the truth of this scripture become alive and active in each of their lives. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
